NEED PET SERVICE?

Your Critter Companions (c) is seeking mature, reliable & responsible pet service providers who possess exceptional good judgment and have pet care experience. Our services tend to cluster around 2 types of schedules: 1. you should be available MOST EVENINGS & / OR WEEKENDS, or, 2. you should be available MOST WEEKDAYS. We also require that candidates commit to being available MOST MAJOR HOLIDAYS including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Areas of service are Los Altos, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Saratoga, Campbell, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, north and central San Jose, Palo Alto, Milpitas, Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, Dublin, Alamo, Danville, San Ramon, Pleasanton, Livermore, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and Castro Valley. If you live in the following specific areas, we have immediate work: Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Santa Clara, Fremont, Union City, Newark. We're looking for mature individuals who are able to successfully pass a work-related background check, have a great love and respect for animals, the ability to reliably provide outstanding customer service, a willingness to learn and a great sense of humor.

SPECIFIC SERVICES MAY INCLUDE:

Midday Dog Walks / Daily Pet Visits: Mon-Fri -- most services are between 10am and 3pm (some services may be before 10am or after 3pm, and may include weekend as well as night services; some services may be up to an hour in length)
Morning Dog Walks / Morning Pet Visits: Mon-Sun -- most services are between 8am and 10am, and are 30 minutes in length (some early mornings may be before 8am; some services may be up to an hour in length)
Afternoon Dog Walks / Afternoon Pet Visits: Mon-Sun -- most services are between 3pm-6pm, and 30 minutes in length (some services may be later in the day, and / or up to an hour in length)
Evening Dog Walks / Evening Pet Visits: Mon-Sun -- most services are between 4pm and 10pm, and 30 minutes in length
Overnight Pet Sitting: sitter is expected to be at the client location from approx. 5pm until 8am the following morning (must be able to spend the night at the client location)
Medication assistance (most common are oral meds, such as pills)
Pet Transportation Services (ex. to and from groomer or vet)

We are also looking for sitters in all cities who have the ability to provide pet boarding & daycare in the sitter's home: usually weekends, but can be consecutive days in a week: 7am -- 10am drop-off and 4pm -- 8pm pick-up. You must be able to provide your own insurance, and allow periodic home inspections by YCC management as well as clients.

ABOUT YOUR CRITTER COMPANIONS (c):

We are a premium professional dog walking and pet sitting business serving the East Bay, South Bay and Peninsula, operating for the past 7+ years. Unlike many other small operations and services, we have thrived during the recent economic downturn since we are known in the area for providing excellent service. We do a significant amount of marketing to locate new pet clients on a daily basis, have been featured in major publications including the "CostCo Connection", and have partnered with major pet product retailers such as PetCo. Most of the service we perform can fit with and around just about any type of schedule prospective sitters & dog walkers may have -- some of our sitters & dog walkers are stay-at-home parents, some work full-time somewhere else and part-time with YCC, some staff have their own businesses such as massage therapists or photographers, some have their own independent pet clients outside of YCC. You can work as much, or as little, as you prefer -- your availability and type of services you can provide determine your compensation (there is no minimum or upper cap on compensation). You do not need to find your own clients -- we do this for you! You can also keep working with any existing clients you may have outside of your relationship with YCC. Most of the vets and groomers in the Bay Area are familiar with us service, and many client referrals come to us through those contacts. When you work with YCC, there is no cost to you for our services.

CANDIDATE BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Live in the coverage area (preference for those living in Fremont, Union City, and Newark).
Absolutely love pets!!! Previous pet care experience is required. Personal experience is acceptable, as well as professional experience.
Be available for a minimum number of daily dog walks and pet sitting, and be willing to commit to at least one year of service (your client's pets and their people will be counting on you!) You must be able to make a long-term commitment to the happiness and well being of client animals in your care.
Have a safe, insured, reliable vehicle suitable for transporting pets and yourself as well as an excellent driving record and a valid driver's license.
Consistent availability, including most major holidays.
Physically active -- you'll be walking for several hours a day, getting on the floor to play with pets, bending, lifting (+25lbs), tossing the ball, etc.
At least 21 years of age (mature adults & retired folks are strongly encouraged to apply!).
Able to successfully pass a thorough work-related background check.
Be able to work as an Independent Contractor.
Manage your own schedule daily in a timely, efficient and safe manner.
Manage keys and client info as needed, scheduling and communications via cell phone calls, texts and also emails.
Have a strong work ethic and care deeply for the well-being of all animals in your care.
Be reliable, alert, sensible and able to communicate with compassion and professionalism with clients as well as other YCC staff members.
Own a cell phone with ability to send / receive texts, a computer with internet connection & a printer (A smart phone is a huge benefit!).
Understand that there is an initial "ramp up" of work as new team members are oriented and assigned clients.
Enjoy being outside in all weather (dogs still need to be walked even in the rain!).
Understand and be eager to accommodate clients who expect an exacting level of detail in the care of their cherished pets.
Have a tidy, professional appearance and habits (leave no trace at client's homes).
Understand the importance of proactive communication with each client, and exceed their expectations in this area.

IDEAL CANDIDATES:

Prior experience working as an independent professional pet sitter & / or dog walker
Experience administering oral medications to pets
Certified in Pet CPR & First Aid
At least 2 years prior experience working with other people's pets (personally or professionally)
